Dyslexia: A Special Kind of Smart
Tricia Cook knows the feeling of failure and shame that often envelope a student when she realizes her reading growth is not keeping pace with her classmates. She managed to get into college before she began to understand the circuitry in her brain differs from that of about 80 percent of the population. Tricia became a reading specialist and trained in the Montessori method of teaching as well as in the pioneering, multisensory approach to teaching reading known as Orton-Gillingham. In addition, she offers independent tutoring, coaching, and consultation.

Simple Medicine
Tess Cox, the founder of Simple Medicine for Parents, tells us that a fever is a child’s friend. A fever indicates the body’s immune system is working to rid the body of an enemy — a virus or a bacteria. She gives us signs to look for to know when it’s time to call the child’s physician.
She created Simple Medicine for Parents to put simple, basic medical knowledge and tools into the hands of parents from all walks of life, to free them from making medical decisions out of fear or panic.
Her goal is to make medical decision-making simple and confident. Facts over fear! No more middle of the night Google searches in the dark trying to figure out what to do when your child is sick. Simple Medicine for Parents will give you the basic information you need to make solid decisions when the time comes to act.
Tess was a guest on Episode 17 of the Adventures with Grammy podcast.
