Win-Win

I was shocked last night when I read a report that Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick told a reporter grandparents should be willing to risk their lives, so schools and businesses could reopen and life could return to normal.

“Let’s get back to living … And those of us that are 70+, we’ll take care of ourselves … I’m going to do everything I can to live. … Our biggest gift we give to our country and our children and our grandchildren is the legacy of our country, and right now, that’s at risk. … I think we can get back to work,” Patrick said.

I had to read that twice! He has six grandchildren!!!

Ironically, Patrick’s boss, the governor of Texas, announced yesterday the state received $36.9 million – its initial allotment of funding from the first emergency Coronavirus bill passed by Congress.

I don’t believe our country is going to collapse. I don’t believe the stock market would have been as volatile as it has been the past week, if insiders had not “dumped” millions of dollars of stock.

We are a resilient lot, and I think we will get through this medically and economically, if we sacrifice and hunker down for a month or so.

That’s the legacy I want my grandchildren to have. Work together for a win-win.
