Episode 2 features interviews with author Amy Schisler, Scott Drayer and Celeste Morningside.
Segment 1: Amy Schisler writes inspirational women’s fiction for people of all ages. She has published two children’s books, Crabbing with Granddad and The Greatest Gift: A Fairy Tale about Following Your Dreams.
She has written numerous novels, including the award-winning Picture Me, Whispering Vines, and the Chincoteague Island Trilogy. A former librarian, she enjoys a busy life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where she leads a women’s Bible study and volunteers in her parish church.
The recipient of numerous national literary awards, including the Illumination Award, LYRA award, Independent Publisher Book Award, International Digital Award, and The Golden Quill Award, the Foreward Indies Award, as well as honors from the Catholic Press Association and the Eric Hoffer Book Award, Ms. Schisler’s writing has been hailed “a verbal masterpiece of art” (author Alexa Jacobs) and “Everything you want in a book” (Amazon reviewer). Her books are available internationally, wherever books are sold, in print and eBook formats.
Segment 2: In 1963, President John F. Kennedy founded the President’s Council on Physical Fitness. He wanted to ensure the nation and especially the nation’s youth were healthy and fit. He enlisted the aid of author and composer Meredith Wilson to write a song that would inspire the youth to exercise. Wilson wrote the Chicken Fat Exercise Kids, a peppy, trombone-rich marching song. Robert Preston, the actor in The Music Man, recorded the lyrics.
Scott Drayer bought the rights to produce an exercise video in the 1990s and recently turned the lyrics into a book.
